Teaching Religion in Schools

Post by omid »

Recently, I saw a post, in Telegram, about Tajikistan prohibiting children and youths from being taught religion, or from even stepping into places of worship. I wonder what a post-overthrow system of education will be, in this regard.

Indications are that a large segment of the generations born after 1978 will be anti-Islam, if not atheistic. And, despite the continuing religiosity of the 1978 generation, there may well be significant resistance to the teaching of religion to impressionable minds, even of religions other than Islam. Zoroastrianism may be viewed less unfavourably, though that may be more in an historical, cultural context than purely religious.
The Shah, and all Iranians, learnt _the hard way_ why superstition must not be given free reign.
